Frequently Asked Questions

I'm new to softball - can I still participate? Absolutely! In addition to the league games you also have the option to attend club training sessions. We are also planning to hold some beginners sessions prior to the league commencing. During league games we will also be operating with a 'rookie recall' in place as you settle into the sport. We are a super friendly and welcoming club!

To confirm, is it a mixed sport? Yes. Male/Female/Non-Binary all play as one big softball machine!

What are the minimum age requirements? CSL is open to players 14+. All under 18 players will require an additional permission form to be submitted from their parent/guardian/responsible adult. A copy of the clubs youth policy can be provided upon request.

When will it be? Games will be played on Wednesday evenings with each game starting promptly at 18.15.

How long are the games? We will aim to play the full 7 innings though reserve the right to curtail games in the event of poor light/visibility. Game time will be between 1-2 hours.

How many games will I play? Fixtures will be confirmed once we have confirmed numbers. Our working assumption is 6 games per team.

How will I be allocated a team? Each player will be graded by our coaches/committee and teams will operate to a 'points cap'. The aim of this is to keep the teams as evenly matched as possible. You are able to request to be on the same team as another player (shared transport for example) and we will do our best to accommodate.

How much will it cost? To participate in the CSL there are three membership options available;

Double - £50 - League Fees + Club Membership + League Jersey (Outdoor Training Session £3pw PAYG)

Triple - £70 - League Fees + Club Membership + All Outdoor Training Sessions + League Jersey

Home Run - £100 - League Fees + Club Membership + All Outdoor Training Sessions + League Jersey + 2x Awards Night Tickets

(For reference we also offer a 'Single' membership option which includes club membership only with outdoor training to be paid on a PAYG basis)

We do not want finance to be a barrier to entry so please feel free to contact the club to discuss payment options.

When do I need to pay by? We require membership fees to be paid by 01/03/2024, though please contact us if this is not possible.

What happens if I miss a game? Your team will be permitted to bring in a 'ringer' to replace you in line with league rules. Unfortunately we cannot refund you for missed weeks., sorry!

What happens if the league does not proceed? Once we've wiped away the tears, you will be contacted about refund options. For those of you who were with us in 2023 we will revert to scheduled game nights (with some possible enhancements!).

Do I need any special equipment? No! If you happen to have your own softball/baseball glove or bat then feel free to bring that along otherwise everything you need will be provided.

Are batting helmets mandatory? Yes. Batters/Base Runners will be required to wear a helmet at all times. Players do have the option to sign a waiver should they not wish to utilise a helmet.

Is there parking at the school? Yes! Parking is available within the school grounds free of charge.

Is there any public transport nearby? The closest bus route is #9 run by NX Coventry. You can see more about the venue here.

What should I wear? Layered sports clothing and footwear with good grip are ideal (metal studded footwear or spikes are not permitted). This is Britain after all so it's conceivable we will experience many weathers and temperatures! We also recommend bringing a drink with you as there are no facilities to buy at the school however there is a local shop just outside the gates.

What happens if it rains? Generally - rain does not stop play. In some circumstances the club committee may decide that play cannot continue in line with our promise to provide a safe environment for our players.
